Are you a young woman passionate about advancing women’s rights, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), feminist leadership, and creating positive change in your community?
Hawa Feminist Coalition, with funding from AmplifyChange, is pleased to announce a Call for Participants for the first cohort of its Training of Trainers (ToT) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Feminist Leadership, and Digital Advocacy. The call seeks ambitious and committed young women leaders based in Garowe, Bosaso, Galkacyo, Qardho, and Badhan, Puntland, Somalia, to participate in an intensive five-day, in-person ToT programme to be held in Garowe, Puntland, Somalia. The training will equip participants with the knowledge, practical skills, and tools needed to become trainers and advocates for SRHR, feminist leadership, and digital advocacy in their respective communities.
About the Organization & Program
Hawa Feminist Coalition is a young women-led, feminist, non-governmental, and non-profit organization founded in Somalia in 2018. The organization is committed to advancing the safety, equality, justice, rights, dignity, and leadership of young women and girls across Somalia.
The Training of Trainers (ToT) is part of the project “Mobilizing and Strengthening Youth to Lead Advocacy for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Policy Reforms in Somalia,” which seeks to strengthen a new generation of young women leaders with the knowledge, leadership skills, and advocacy tools needed to advance SRHR and challenge harmful social norms in their communities.
Through this program, young women will be equipped not simply as beneficiaries, but as trainers, advocates, organizers, and leaders capable of transferring knowledge, mobilizing their communities, challenging harmful practices and stigma, and advancing the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and girls.
Who Are We Looking For?
Hawa Feminist Coalition will competitively select 25 ambitious young women leaders, with five participants from each of the following locations:
-
- Garowe
-
- Bosaso
-
- Galkacyo
-
- Qardho
-
- Badhan
About the Training
The intensive five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) will equip participants with practical knowledge, skills, and participatory training approaches in three core areas:
-
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): Building participants’ understanding of key SRHR concepts and challenges affecting young women and girls, including harmful practices, stigma, misinformation, gender-based violence, FGM/C, child marriage, and barriers to accessing SRHR information and services.
-
- Feminist Leadership: Strengthening young women’s leadership, confidence, organizing, movement-building, community mobilization, and ability to challenge harmful gender and social norms.
-
- Digital Advocacy: Developing participants’ skills to use digital platforms, social media, storytelling, and other advocacy tools strategically and safely to promote SRHR, amplify young women’s voices, challenge misinformation, and mobilize communities for change.
Participants will also strengthen their facilitation and Training of Trainers skills to enable them to transfer their knowledge effectively to other young women in their communities.
What Happens After the ToT?
This is not only a training opportunity. Selected participants will become community-level trainers and mobilizers.
Following completion of the ToT, participants will be expected to work with Hawa Feminist Coalition to plan, organize, and deliver localized training on SRHR, feminist leadership, and digital advocacy in their respective districts.
Hawa Feminist Coalition and the project team will provide technical guidance, training tools and materials, planning support, and other necessary assistance to enable the trained ToTs to cascade their learning to young women at the community level.
