In recognition of the growing threat of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) against Somali women and girls, Hawa Feminist Coalition, with support of Numun Fund, has developed a series of practical Somali-language digital safety resources to help women and girls better understand and respond to online risks.
Many existing digital safety materials are written in foreign languages or use highly technical language, making them difficult to access and understand for many Somali women and girls. To help address this gap, Hawa Feminist Coalition developed locally accessible guidance in Somali that provides practical information for safer participation in digital spaces.
The resources cover key areas of digital safety, including understanding common digital risks and online threats, protecting personal data and mobile devices, securing social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok and Snapchat, and setting up basic safety and emergency features on mobile phones.

By making practical digital safety information available in Somali, Hawa Feminist Coalition is working to promote safer, more inclusive and empowering digital spaces for women and girls across Somalia.
